On a June evening in Middlesex the ballfields at Victor Crowell Park are lit and loud, and the smell of cut grass carries a couple of blocks in every direction. Randy's Lawn Care Inc. makes that smell for a living — mowing, edging, trimming and seasonal cleanups on the yards up and down the borough's streets. Along the brook the turf comes in thick and needs a firm schedule; on the drier blocks it wants cutting higher through the heat. Either way the aim is the same: an even cut, a clean border, walks swept before the truck moves on. There is real pride in a street where every lawn looks like somebody's Saturday well spent.
