North toward Swainton the township goes over to holly and cedar, and in April the beds beneath them wake first — daffodils, then bayberry, then everything at once. Shoreway Landscape & Gardens works the lawn and what grows beside it: mowing and edging on schedule, beds turned and mulched, shrubs pruned back to shape, hydrangeas cut before they can argue about it. When the weather flips, the same drives get plowed and the same walks get shoveled and salted, which is its own form of tending. A garden here has to take wind off two bodies of water and sand that holds onto nothing, so the plan stays patient and the upkeep stays regular. The good day is the one in June when the beds are full and sharply cut and the lawn runs up to them without a gap.
