Autumn arrives on the Schiff Nature Preserve side of Mendham all at once: one cold night, and the hedgerow oaks let go. Environmental Landscape Services spends those weeks on leaf removal and fall cleanups, hauling the season off lawns that spent all summer being mowed, edged, aerated and overseeded by the same hands. Then the trucks change over. Plowing, walkway shoveling and ice control carry those properties from the first sloppy December squall to the last stubborn March coating. Come April the mulch and the mower are back out, because ground like this never really stops asking for something.
