Taunton Lake carries the color of cedar water — brown-gold in the afternoon, black by dusk — and the lanes around it are quiet enough that you can hear a mower two streets over. Lindh's Lawn And Junk LLC runs those streets all growing season: cutting, trimming, edging, feeding turf and clearing the beds once the leaves start down. When Medford freezes over, the trucks go out for snow removal, opening driveways and walks and treating what turns to ice by morning. It is plain, useful work, and there is genuine pride in a yard or a driveway that looks like somebody bothered. Work runs from the lakes at one end of Medford to the open fields at the other.
