Fantazzia Co

About Fantazzia Co

When a nor'easter sets up off Margate, the snow arrives sideways and Lucy stands out there on Decatur Avenue taking it the way she has taken every storm this island has thrown at her. Fantazzia Co works those nights and the mornings after, plowing drives and clearing walks while the wind still has sand and snow mixed together in it. Shore storms rarely give you clean powder — it is wet, it packs, it freezes at the curb line — so the crew goes early and goes back. There is something good about being the first tire tracks on a Margate street, cutting a path down a block where nothing else has moved yet. By the time the island wakes up, the drives are open and the day can start.
