Earth & Turf

About Earth & Turf

At first light the Manasquan Inlet is already busy, fishing boats sliding out between the jetties while surfers bob off the beach waiting for the next set. A few blocks inland, Earth & Turf gets to work on the lawns of this salt-washed borough, where sandy soil and onshore wind make good turf something you have to earn. Spring in Manasquan arrives slowly, held back by a cool ocean, and then all at once, and the lawn care has to be ready to meet it, keeping the grass thick, green and evenly cut into the dog days. The reward is a yard that looks as fresh as the morning off the water. Earth below, turf above: the name says it, and the work keeps it true.
