The Rahway River takes its slow bend along Linden's southern edge, and every spring it leaves a fine silt line on the low yards nearby. Damian's Landscaping starts there when the ground firms up — cutting, edging, hauling out what the wet months piled into the corners — and keeps the route going straight through the growing season. In January the same trucks come back loaded differently, plowing driveways, clearing walks and steps, throwing salt where the ice sets first. Squalls blow through fast on this side of the county, so the afternoon runs matter as much as the overnight ones. Two seasons, one street at a time, and both of them end with a property somebody can walk across.
