Late August settles heavy over the Grasselli side streets — cicadas working the sycamores, porch fans turning by seven, the light going gold and long. Benites Tree Service and Landscaping takes the cooler end of those days: mowing, running the trimmer down fence lines and curb strips, cutting hedges back off the front walk, sweeping up after. Come November the same blocks turn copper and the leaves come off in one long push, pulled out of the shrub beds and the window wells and gone before dark. None of it is complicated work; it simply has to be carried all the way out to the edges.
