There is an hour in January, before Chapel Hill Road has taken a single tire track, when Alpha Lawn and Garden LLC is already out with the plow and the spreader. By the time coffee is poured, driveways stand open and walkways are down to bare pavement, salted along the edges where ice likes to hide. Come June the same trucks carry mowers and trimmers instead, and the borough's yards get their weekly shape: grass cut level, edges tidied, garden beds mulched dark against all that green. Lincoln Park asks for both kinds of attention, and both are given without fuss. A house looks cared for when the snow is gone by seven and the lawn is finished by noon.
