East of Heathcote the land flattens out toward Cranbury and Plainsboro, and there is little between here and the sunrise but open field, so first light comes in low and all at once. Rising Sun takes its cue from that hour, out early while the dew still holds, mowing, edging and trimming before the weight of a Middlesex County afternoon settles in. Grass cut in the cool of the morning stands up straighter and shows its lines better. Cleanups clear the way at the front and the back of the growing year. There is something worth getting up for in a lawn finished before most of the street is awake.
