About 440 Associates Inc

Hasbrouck Heights sits up on its ridge, and on a January night you can stand at the top of a driveway and watch the wind push snow sideways over the Meadowlands with the Teterboro lights blinking underneath. Up here the wind rearranges a storm about as fast as it falls, which is why 440 Associates Inc will plow a property twice when it needs plowing twice. Driveways cleared to bare blacktop, walks opened shoulder-width, salt on the steps and on the slope where the borough's grade funnels every bit of runoff. Snow removal in a hilltop town is partly a question of pitch — cleared is not the same as safe on an incline that faces north. At four in the morning, with Route 17 humming below the ridge, getting that right is the entire job.
