Route 537 carries Freehold past the raceway and out toward open farmland, but on a snow morning it is the side streets and driveways feeding into it that decide whether anybody actually gets anywhere. EdgeScape Landscape & Design plows those approaches — drives, aprons, lots and the walk from the door to the car. The pleasure in this work is geometric: a driveway cut square to its edges, banks pushed back off the corners so the next storm has somewhere to go, salt laid down before the slush sets. In Monmouth County a storm can turn heavy and wet in an hour, and the difference between an easy morning and a bad one is who came through first. Clean lines in winter are their own kind of design.
