Shizen Garden Design & Maintenance

About Shizen Garden Design & Maintenance

January light comes sideways across Hunterdon's stone walls and hedgerows, and a garden stands there in its bones — every branch, bed line and lawn edge laid bare. Shizen Garden Design & Maintenance works outward from that structure: garden design, pruning, bed care, mulch and the season-long mowing and trimming that keeps a place composed. Restraint is the method, since a garden near Flemington ought to look like it grew into its setting rather than argued with it. There is deep pleasure in a shrub pruned so well that nobody notices it was touched. Attention, repeated quietly across a year, is the entire art.
