About Garden State Outdoor Living & Construction Co.

When a storm crosses Budd Lake there is nothing out there to slow the wind, and the snow reaches the far shore sideways. Garden State Outdoor Living & Construction Co. is out in the middle of it — plowing driveways in Flanders and across Mount Olive, cutting walkways down to bare pavement, salting the slopes and aprons that would otherwise glaze over by morning. At this elevation the storms start earlier and stay longer than they do elsewhere in the state, so a route gets run and re-run through the night rather than once at the end. The reward is small and exact: a driveway that is simply open at six in the morning, squared at the edges, with a clear path to the door. Shoveling, blowing out the tight corners and ice control on the return pass all belong to the same trip.
