November strips the oaks along the Expressway corridor and drops the whole year onto the lawns underneath. Jm & Sons Landscaping is out in it — leaf cleanups, final cuts, edges tidied, everything carted off before the cold locks the ground. Then the blades go on, and those same driveways and lots get plowed, the walks shoveled, the ice treated with salt through whatever the winter sends up from the shore. From Bargaintown to Cardiff and on into Pleasantville, Northfield and Absecon, the routes cover a good deal of ground. Knowing a property well is half the job; the other half is being there early.
