The first train out of Dover leaves in the dark, and on a snow morning nothing in the borough is walkable until somebody makes it so. European Elegance takes that winter work — plowing, clearing driveways and walkways, shoveling steps, laying down salt against the refreeze. The hours are unsociable and the streets are empty, which is rather the point: the town wakes up to a place that already works. Cold light comes up over the rooftops, salt hissing quietly on the ice. By the time the coffee shops open, the trucks have moved on.
