The Palisades ridge stands just east of Cresskill, and the first real squall of December usually comes over the top of it in the afternoon, turning the valley white between one errand and the next. GEM Landscapes watches that sky for a living. When the snow commits, the trucks go out to plow the driveways, clear the walks to the door, and put down salt before the temperature drops and the slush sets like stone. The measure of the night's work is a cleared apron at dawn and a path wide enough to carry groceries down. Snow removal through the winter for Cresskill and the neighboring Northern Valley boroughs.
