Connecticut Farms got its name from settlers out of Connecticut who farmed this ground in the 1660s, and the churchyard on Stuyvesant Avenue still remembers the June day in 1780 when the Revolution came through these streets. Today it is a quiet neighborhood of Union Township, with sidewalks, shade trees and front yards where farm lanes once ran. Union County Lawn Care keeps those yards in trim with mowing, edging and trimming suited to snug suburban lots. Each spring the grass returns on land that has been worked and lived on for more than three centuries. A crisp front lawn on a street like this is a small way of honoring the ground beneath it.
