Garret Mountain sits west of Clifton like a weather wall, and when an ice storm slides down off it the whole city glazes over by midnight. JLS Tree & Landscape runs the night shift on that: plowing driveways and lots, breaking walks loose, spreading salt where the glaze wants to hold. Ice is a harder problem than snow, and it takes timing more than muscle. The measure of the night is the first car out at six, rolling down a clear apron onto a clean street. That is the whole job, and it is enough.
