About R.W. Hartman Contractors

Four in the morning on the Cinnaminson flats: the river holds a low ceiling of cloud, and the wind crosses the water with nothing between it and the driveways off Riverton Road. R.W. Hartman Contractors plows those drives and lots, clears the walkways by hand, and lays salt where damp air has left a hard skin behind the storm. Snow this close to the Delaware often falls right at the freezing line — wet, dense, quick to seize up — and it does not politely wait for daylight. Getting a whole route open before the first cars back out is a matter of route order and knowing which corner drifts. When the sun finally comes up over a line of black, dry driveways, the night has done its job.
