The Rahway River runs the northern edge of Carteret, and in late October the maples along it let go all at once. JR Jersey Roots LLC spends that stretch of the year with leaves — raked out of the corners, pulled off the beds, cleared from the curb strip so the drains stay open. There is a plain pleasure in handing back a yard that is completely, finally clear. Through the summer the same properties get cut even and edged tight along the walks and the driveway. Spring starts the way fall ended, with everything cleaned off and a first cut laid down. Home ground is Carteret, with routes into Rahway and Linden.
