Gras Lawn

About Gras Lawn

Fog comes off the Delaware and settles over Beverly some mornings, softening the old porches along Broad Street until the town looks a century younger. Gras Lawn is out in it the year round — mowing, trimming and edging the deep narrow yards that run back from those river-town streets, and cutting a clean line where lawn meets brick. Winter flips the work to plowing and shoveling, opening driveways and sidewalks before the day starts and putting salt on the shaded stretches that hold ice. Seasonal cleanups bookend all of it, spring and fall, hauling off whatever the wind and the trees leave behind. Small city, tidy blocks — that is the standard the work is held to.
