Terra Firma of Avon

About Terra Firma of Avon

Avon-by-the-Sea is nine blocks wide, held between Sylvan Lake and the Shark River, with the boardwalk on the fourth side and gingerbread porches facing all of it. Terra Firma of Avon mows and tends the small, tidy yards of that grid — the ones you take in from a bicycle, where a crooked edge would be noticed by the entire street. Ocean humidity pushes the grass hard in June, so the schedule stays weekly and the blades stay sharp. Beds get mulched, hedges get shaped, and the cleanups at either end of summer clear the sand and leaves the wind delivers for free. There is something worth doing in a lawn this size done exactly right, a half-block from the water.
