Down at the harbor the masts click all night, and the first ferry pulls out before most of the town is awake. TrueLine Outdoor Services LLC is often up before it, plowing lots and driveways along the waterfront when a storm has come in off the bay and salting the walks so the early boat still gets its passengers. In warmer months the work runs along the flat ground by the Henry Hudson Trail: mowing, string-trimming, bed edging, cleanups in spring and fall. A property that meets the water needs a firm line where the lawn stops and the gravel begins, and holding that line is most of the craft. Salt air is hard on everything here except a lawn that gets attention.
