On the ocean blocks toward Margate and Longport the wind carries salt inland every day of the year, and the yards that do well are the ones tended by someone who accounts for it. Shorescape mows, edges and trims those Atlantic City lawns and keeps the beds in order, giving the bayberry and beach plum room and cutting the grass at a height that shrugs off spray and glare. Late in the season the light goes low and amber off the dunes and shows every line in a lawn. It is a fine feeling to leave a yard looking like it grew that way on purpose.
