Late October at Sunset Lake, the willows let go all at once and the yards along the west end of Asbury Park disappear under gold. Asbury Park Tree Service brings the lawn back out from under it — leaves cleared off, turf cut once more before the cold, borders tidied for the season ahead. Through the warm months the schedule is simpler and just as exact: mowing on a regular turn, trimming, a clean line where grass meets walk. A shore lawn takes wind, sand and a great deal of foot traffic, so the upkeep never really stops. The reward is a yard that looks composed in any light, from June glare to November grey.
