Come mid-October the maples along Allendale's older lanes go copper all at once, and for two weeks the whole borough is walking through color. Tree Service Landscape spends that stretch clearing what comes down — leaves off the turf, limbs off the lawn, beds raked out and the grass given one last clean cut before dormancy. Working around big canopy trees is its own discipline, and a yard shaded by them needs a lighter, more attentive hand than an open one. Once the branches are bare and the first storms track down out of the Ramapos, the work shifts to plowing driveways and opening walkways so a house stays reachable. There is a plain pleasure in it: a lawn raked clean in November, pavement showing black again in January.
