Winter arrives on Great East Lake as a wide, sideways thing — wind straight off the ice, snow piling against everything that faces north. Handyman of the Lakes Region plows the driveways along Route 153 and the camp roads behind them, shovels steps and walks, and salts whatever freezes hard overnight. Lake roads drift and re-drift, so one storm often means two or three trips across the same route.
