About Wickson Companies

The blade comes down with a sound Salem knows by heart — steel finding asphalt out past the Spicket while the rest of Rockingham County is still under blankets. Wickson Companies works the snow here, clearing driveways, walkways and lots, breaking open the drifts that pile against granite ledge and old stone wall, cutting a lane wide enough for the first car of the morning. There is a plain pleasure in the finished thing: dark pavement showing through again, banks squared off clean at the edges, a path that no longer asks anything of the person walking it. When a storm swings up the Merrimack Valley and the light goes flat and blue over the lake, the whole job is simply to hand the town back its own ground by daybreak.
