About John Ballentine Landscaping & Snow Management LLC

Rochester calls itself the Lilac City, but on a February night its only blossoms are the drifts heaped soft against old mill brick along the Cocheco River. John Ballentine Landscaping & Snow Management LLC works through the hours when the river runs black beneath its ice and the downtown streetlights hum over empty sidewalks. Storms here often come in heavy and wet off the coast, and the blade meets them stroke after stroke until bare pavement shows through again. By the time Gonic and East Rochester are pouring their first coffee, a driveway can stand clean to its edges, the banks squared back and the road simply waiting. It is snow management in the most literal sense: a night of weather taken in, an ordinary morning handed back.
