Green World

About Green World

August in Salem can go dry and brassy, the brooks low, the sun sitting on the lawns all afternoon. Green World keeps color in the ground through it — mowing at a height that lets the grass shade its own roots, edging and trimming to hold clean lines, feeding the turf at the right points in the season, refreshing mulch, and cleaning up hard in spring and fall. Down near Policy Brook and the Millville streets the soil runs heavy in places and sandy in others, and reading that difference yard by yard is most of the craft. When the September rains come and the lawns jump back green, the ones that were tended all summer jump first.
