About R.K. Garland Stump Grinding LLC

Pembroke runs along the terrace above the Merrimack, with Suncook village down where the river drops through old mill brick and the water still sounds busy. R.K. Garland Stump Grinding LLC works those streets and the farm lots on the intervale, and the last step is the one in the name: after a tree comes down and the trunk is trimmed out and hauled, the stump goes too, ground below grade until the lawn can close over the spot. Removals here run from a crowded maple beside a Pembroke Street driveway to a line of pines along a field edge, and trimming keeps whatever stays inside its bounds. There is a plain pleasure in that finish — a mower rolling across ground that used to be an obstacle, no ring of grindings left behind, no low spot come spring. Give it a season and the only evidence is more grass.
