First light comes late to Pelham, filtering down through the pines along Beaver Brook before it ever reaches the lawns off Route 38 — and by then the first mower lines of the day are already being drawn. Budge-It Outdoors tends these border-town yards the way the old stone walls here were laid, edge by edge and bed by bed: weekly mowing with precise edging and trimming, fertilization and weed control, aeration and overseeding to thicken grass that has to carry both August heat and February cold. Mulch is refreshed and beds put back in order, hedges and small trees are shaped, and leaves are gathered in the long amber evenings of October, while fencing and hardscaping give a yard its bones. Come January the work turns to snow, drives opened while the woods are still blue, so a Pelham morning starts on bare pavement with one clean dark line banked along the edge. It is plain, physical work, and it leaves a place looking cared for straight through to the road.
