About Seacoast Gardener
Late May on the North Hampton shore, the wind still comes off Little Boar's Head with winter in it, and the beds along Atlantic Avenue wake late and then all at once. That is the season Seacoast Gardener works in — spring clean-ups pulled out of the borders, bulbs and perennials and annuals set where the light actually lands, roses opened up by pruning that knows which cane to take and which to leave. The satisfaction is in the aftermath: a weeded bed with a clean dark edge, seasonal planters standing guard at a doorway, a walkway or patio reset so the stone sits flat and true underfoot again. Gardens get designed, planted, and then kept — shrub care, weeding, the patient landscape maintenance that lets a yard hold its shape from the marsh grass inland to the tidal streets of Portsmouth. The work travels the coast from here: Rye, New Castle, Greenland, Stratham, Exeter, Durham and Dover, and over the bridge into Kittery, Eliot, York, Cape Neddick and Ogunquit.
