In August the fairgrounds fill up and New Boston smells like fried dough and cut grass, which is a fair summary of the season Tom Demers Landscape & Construction spends outdoors. Lawns get mowed on a schedule you could set a clock by, edges trimmed where grass meets walk, clippings blown back off the drive before the truck pulls away. Then the year turns, the fields go hard and white, and the same routes become plow routes for the same properties mowed past all summer. Knowing a place in both directions is worth something — you know where the culvert sits, where lawn ends and gravel begins, where not to push. It makes for tidy summers and short winter mornings.
