Raisanen Landscaping works the sandy river terraces of Merrimack, where the Souhegan slips into the Merrimack and white pines lean over the back roads. The days run from excavation and hydroseeding to bark mulch, loam, sand, stone and gravel hauled in by the yard — and on to patios, brick paver walks, water features and lawn sprinklers that hold a yard green through an August that bakes the valley flat. There is a plain pleasure in a hardscape that sits level and true, in a bed edged clean against the grass, in a property that still looks tended in the last low light of October. When the cold locks the valley down, the work turns to snow and ice management across Merrimack, Hudson, Nashua, Bedford, Amherst, Milford and Hollis — driveways opened wide before the town has stirred, walks cleared, the day handed back to whoever has to drive it.
