Three in the morning on River Road, Stark Park's pines loaded white, streetlights throwing cones of falling snow — this is the ordinary scenery of a plow night. Parkhurst plowing runs it: driveway plowing, walkways and steps cleared, sand and salt where the grade wants to hold ice. Storms here tend to change their mind, an inch an hour turning into six, so the route gets run again rather than run once. Nothing about it is dramatic. It is just a cleared drive, waiting for someone who never had to think about it.
