Precision Excavation NH works the sandy river terrace of Litchfield, where the Merrimack bends past cornfields and pitch pine and Route 3A runs the long east bank. Theirs is the work that happens beneath the finish line — excavation and site work, septic systems installed and repaired, the ground opened, shaped, and closed again so a house can sit right on the land it was given. There is a plain satisfaction in a pad graded to shed water the way water wants to go, in a trench backfilled so cleanly the yard forgets it was ever disturbed. Come winter the same iron turns to snow, pushing a driveway open before the coffee is poured and leaving a dark stripe down to the gravel. From Litchfield out across southern and central New Hampshire, it is heavy, unhurried shaping — and the ground keeps the shape.
