Litchfield lies long and narrow along the east bank of the Merrimack, a strip of sandy river-terrace farmland where corn rows and orchard lines run down toward the water and pine woods close in behind them. Corpe Outdoor Services works that ground on its own terms — weekly mowing and clean-cut edging through the growing months, mulch and stone set into beds, gardens designed and planted, shrubs pruned back, turf aerated, dethatched, overseeded and topdressed until it thickens and holds.
