The Winnipesaukee River drops through Laconia in a series of small falls, loud in April and half-frozen by January, and the town's calendar more or less follows it. Modern, LLC. works both halves of that year: mowing, string trimming, edging and seasonal cleanups while the water runs high and green things climb, then plowing, shoveling and salting once the edges start to ice. Snow gets cleared to pavement and stacked well clear of the turnaround; grass gets cut before it gets ahead. Nothing about it is complicated, and showing up on the right morning is most of the job. Laconia and its neighboring towns are served straight through.
