About T.F. Contracting Corp.

The loader swings, the bobcat pivots on its own axis, a blade drops and the lot begins to come clean in long overlapping passes — this is work measured in the width of a plow and the sound of sand hitting pavement. T.F. Contracting Corp. works out of Hooksett, where the Merrimack runs dark past the falls and the pines stand up against the granite ledge, and where a commercial lot at four in the morning is nothing but blue snow and orange lights. They plow and sand and salt through the cold months; when the ground gives, they turn to excavation, grading, trucking and asphalt, parking lot sealing and line striping, and landscaping around the edges. There is a plain pleasure in the result: black pavement steaming under an early sun, fresh white lines drawn straight, a doorway swept clear before the first car arrives. From Hooksett out through Manchester, Bedford, Londonderry and the towns beyond, they leave places ready to be walked on.
