About Nichols Tree Care

Hinsdale sits in the crook where the Ashuelot gives itself to the Connecticut, with Wantastiquet standing over the water like it is keeping count. Winter comes down that valley in a hurry, and ice loads the silver maples on the river flats until something has to let go. Nichols Tree Care is out in it, pulling storm-broken wood off driveways and pasture fence, taking down the hollow trunks the ice has already tested, carting the brush away. In the calm stretches the work turns to trimming the growth that crowds the hill roads off Route 63 and pruning young hardwoods so they will carry weight better a decade on. There is real satisfaction in a plowed drive with nothing in it and a straight, clean cut where the trouble used to be.
