By late September the hills around Henniker — Craney Hill, the long shoulder beneath Pats Peak — start letting go all at once, and every lawn in town vanishes under maple and oak. Evergreen Yard and Lawn LLC clears it: fall cleanups, leaf work, the last mowings of the year, with trimming and edging kept up right to the frost. Spring runs the same play backwards, raking out winter's sand and litter until the green underneath shows again. In between there is the weekly rhythm of a lawn kept even and honest. A yard properly put to bed in November is a pleasure to open back up in April.
