Gorham holds the corner where the Peabody comes down out of the notch into the Androscoggin, with Madison and the north end of the Presidential wall standing over town. Daniels Landscaping works both halves of the year up here: mowing, trimming and edging through a summer that runs short and bright, and plowing and shoveling through a winter that runs long and serious. Mountain weather does not negotiate — six inches can pile up while the valley below stays bare — so drives and walks get opened early and opened again. In the green months, a trim lawn set against those ridges is a fine thing to stand and look at. Two seasons, two kinds of work, one property kept in hand the whole way around the calendar.
