Two rounded hills, the Uncanoonucs, sit over Goffstown and seem to decide what kind of day the town is going to have. Daves Landscaping LLC works the roads beneath them, plowing and sanding driveways on the hill roads long before the first commuter backs out, then shoveling the walk by hand so nobody has to guess where the step is. Come June the same routes turn green and the work becomes mowing, string trimming and a border held straight along the pavement. There is real satisfaction in a dooryard that looks finished: even stripes, clippings swept off the drive, nothing left half-done. From the Piscataquog flats up to Shirley Hill, it is steady, ordinary upkeep, the kind a town notices only when it is missing.
