About G. W. Brooks & Son, Inc.

February in Freedom is white houses against white fields, Ossipee Lake locked over, and the Ossipee range holding blue shadow all afternoon. G. W. Brooks & Son, Inc. plows through that stretch of Carroll County — camp roads, year-round dooryards, and the long drives that run back into the pines toward Danforth Ponds. Some nights the weather comes off the mountains and the lake at once, and what counts is that the driveway is open when the truck's lights swing back out to the road. Walks get taken down to their surface; the banks get moved back before the next storm fills them again. By March the piles tell the whole winter's story, and the way through them is still wide.
