Early on a June morning, before the heat lifts off the hayfields, the mowers are already working the ground along East Kingston's stone walls and the low green near the Powwow River. Majestic Landscapes is a full-service landscape company here — lawn and garden care, spring and fall cleanups, irrigation and drainage laid so the water goes exactly where it is wanted, and stone work built to stay: retaining walls, patios, walkways, outdoor fireplaces set to hold their line against the frost. There is a plain pleasure in what the work leaves behind — a mown edge drawn clean along a walk, a patio squared honestly to the house, a bed cut back in April to dark open soil. When the ground turns hard, the same properties become a different kind of morning, and the plows go out for homes and businesses across East Kingston, North Hampton and South Hampton and over the line into Newburyport and Newbury. One project manager carries a job from the paper drawing to the finished yard, which is how a place ends up looking as though it had always been meant to sit that way.
