About Chase'n Stumps LLC

The tall white pines of College Woods give Durham its autumn smell, resin and fallen needles soft underfoot on the trails beneath them. Chase'n Stumps LLC cares for lawns in Durham, and its name points to stumps, the stubborn leftovers of a place that was forest long before it was lawn. October brings the last mowing of the year and the clearing of needles and leaves that drift in from the trees. A lawn finished before the first frost, even and uncluttered beneath those big pines, has an earned stillness about it. And there is a little joy in the name itself, a business that sounds forever on the trail of the next stump.
