About Allegro Lawn
October comes up the Cochecho slow and gold, and the lawns along Dover's mill-town streets stop growing and start listening — which is exactly when Allegro Lawn pulls plugs of core from the soil, opening the ground to air and rain, and lays down seed for a spring nobody can see yet. Their work is turf and turf alone: lawn care programs that keep weeds and insects off healthy grass, herbicide aimed only at what doesn't belong, and fall aeration and seeding that sends roots down past where the frost will reach. They don't mow and they don't landscape; they tend the green itself, all the way out through the Seacoast to Portsmouth and Rochester and over the water into Kittery and York. There is a plain, deep satisfaction in walking a Dover yard in November knowing what is happening underneath it — then coming back in May to a lawn so even and unbroken it reads like weather instead of work.
