The first real snow in Claremont usually comes in November and lands on brick — the mill blocks along the Sugar River, the tall windows, the rows of houses that went up around them. Mr Carpenters, LLC works through those storms, plowing driveways and parking areas, clearing walkways by hand, and putting down sand and salt where the grade is steep and the shade holds ice all day. The rest of the year the same properties get mowed, trimmed, edged and mulched, with a thorough cleanup at either end of the season. Claremont is a working city, and this is work of that kind — plain, particular, finished before the day gets going. Pavement bare by breakfast; grass even by Friday.
